1957-Re-Issue LesPaul Custom Black Beautyw/Bigsby, December 06, 2007
Reviewer: Kevin from Groveton,N.H.
This Axe has unbelieveable action and sustain. With the Gold 57Humbuckers,Gold Tuners and Gold Bigsby,it looks as nice as it sounds. And a American-Made Gibson is a good investment as well, since it appreciates in value. Its a win-win.

GIBSON LES PAUL CLASSIC CUSTOM, July 12, 2007
Reviewer: Kevan from LONDON, UK
What can I say! The LP Classic Custom is is a truly amazing guitar - both in looks and in tone - which are many. At first you think it looks a bit 'bling' with the gold hardware but once you look again you think - 'Yeah - awesome guitar!' The pickups are killers and the weight is also good - lighter than the older LPs I tried in the past.
I also have an American Strat and while I love it, the LP is so different but I will keep the Strat (much to my wife's [temporary] annoyance) because they are such truly different guitars to play and to hear. They meet very different musical needs.

Gibson Les Paul - Honeyburst w/ 60's neck, May 29, 2007
Reviewer: Jim from Ft. Worth, Tx
The best guitar... easy playing, great bends, smooth fretting - absolutely sweet. Love the chunky, deep tones that are in such contrast to my American Strat (which is also a very good guitar). Just can't beat it in my humble opinion.

1976 Gibson Les Paul Custom - White w/Gold Hardware, May 25, 2007
Reviewer: Todd from North Providence, RI USA
I bought my '76 Gibson Les Paul Custom used in 1991. The guitar, according to Gibson's production numbers, is 1 of 159 produced in 1976. It was a steal for the price at the time of purchase as most shredders were buying up either Kramer or Jacksons. It needed a little TLC-some minor fret work-but plays like a dream now. It came with the original bridge pickup and a DiMarzio PAF in the neck position. Both pickups have been changed to a Dimarzio PAF Pro in the bridge and a DiMarzio PAF Joe in the neck position for more articulation with the distortion cranked and better balance with both pickups on. The pickups can do the vintage tones and do well with a more saturated, distorted sound. I have push pull pots to coil tap the pickups on each tone control to give me more tonal options for some psuedo Strat/Tele sounds. This guitar for sustain, tone and playability is as good as it gets. I liked this guitar so much I also bought a Les Paul Studio...see my review for the 1987 Les Paul Studio.

1987 Gibson Les Paul Studio - Black w/chrome hardware, May 25, 2007
Reviewer: Todd from North Providence, RI USA
If you read my 1976 Les Paul Custom Review...this is my other Les Paul, a 1987 Les Paul Studio. This is a another Les Paul I picked up used at substantial savings. I purchased this guitar in 1994 from a friend who took about three months of lessons and then gave up on playing. I knew it had no fret ware at all but it still didn't play like my Custom. I did a setup on the guitar and found the 4th fret was higher than the 1st, 2nd and 3rd. The neck was straight but the 4th fret wasn't properly set. I lived with the high action and played it for a short time. I knew what needed to be done but because the frets were so brandy new I didn't want to mess with leveling and crowning them. I put the guitar away because I didn't like the way it played and didn't want to put the work into the frets. Well, after it sat unplayed for about 12 years, I decided to take another look at the frets and do the work. I leveled and re-crowned the frets, polished the frets up after and set the guitar up with a nice set of DR 10's. Let me tell you what a difference in the way the guitar plays...WOW. I played a Gibson Custom Shop 1957 Les Paul Junior at GC that didn't play as nice for 8 times what I paid for my Studio. The neck without the binding kind of reminds of an SG. This guitar plays as good as my Custom now. Before I did the fret work I would have given this guitar 1 star based on the way it played. The only reason why I give 4 stars now is because of the work I had to put into getting this to play the way it does now...it is awesome. To anyone buying a Les Paul Studio they are a great buy but make sure you are happy with how they play before making the purchase. I do all of my own setups and repairs. I didn't want to have level and crown the frets but it is work I do myself and made this guitar play like a dream. I hope this is helpful...Cheers!

2003 Gibson Les Paul Standard, May 25, 2007
Reviewer: Jim from Millerstown PA
This is my fourth Les Paul. My first one was one of those that had the wood finish to it. It started to split so I sold it to a friend. My 2nd one was a cherry red standard which was quite a beautiful guitar. Had that one for a few years and traded on an SG standard. My third was a Les Paul Classic which was a great player but the pickups sucked .(496r-500t ceramic pickups) Traded that one to a friend for a PRS Custom 24 which I still have. Now that is a great guitar period but I guess that don't belong in this review so pay no attention to that last comment. My fourth LP I found in a music store with a Trans Amber finish to it. I guess no one cared for it because it hung on the wall in there for a couple of years and they were blowing it out the door for $1650.00. It has a 57 profile neck with burstbucker pickups in it. They are some of the meatiest pickups I have ever heard and what a great player. Bell like cleans with a heavy raspy overdrive. Woman like tones off the neck pickup. Just a pure pleasure to play. Don't ever waste your money on a LP Classic, ante uo 5 or 6 hundred more for a real keeper. The Les Paul Standard is heads above everything else for that classic rock sound.

2007 Gibson - Classic Custom - Ebony, May 23, 2007
Reviewer: Christopher Warr from Fremont, CA USA
Excellent finish, neck & sound. The Gibson is quite expensive but, you do get the very best guitar money can buy - at least that is my feeling. The guitar sounds awesome and The neck is awesome, Finish is excellent, One thing about the weight....The classic Custom guitar does not weigh as much as a custom - The weight is very liveable and with outstanding looks to boot....1st glance - Not sure what to think, 2nd glance - Awesome. It does not take long to really like the mustard looking binding - Even though Gibson call it Antique Binding....I perfer to call it mustard colored binding.... Bad donkey Guitar - I love it!!

Gibson Les Paul Special SL Humbucker, May 23, 2007
Reviewer: Arriel Reyes from Windsor, CA USA
This is the best Les Paul you can get for under a grand $$$. It has most of the features of high end Les Pauls. Great tone and lead verstility. Holds tuning and humbuking pickups are extremely quiet. I got the ebony and added the creme colored pickguard. What you don't get with this is the binding around the body. If you want a Gibson without taking out a second mortgage on your home, this is it!

Les Paul 57 Custom re-issue, May 23, 2007
Reviewer: Dave from Auckland, New Zealand
The Les Paul 57 custom re-issue is an awesome guitar, I've replaced the pickups with the genuine 57 article and the power is amazing. Mine is a ltd edition sparkling black with a fat neck that fits my big hands nicely. Beautiful tone, I would hang this guitar on my wall as a piece of art!

2003 Gibson Les Paul Classic, May 23, 2007
Reviewer: Ted Hamelin / Sonica from Toronto, Ontario Canada
Fit and finish is first class. The neck, for me is perfect - not too small or too large. The Les Paul is a classic for a reason. If you like lots of bottom end and fat tone, I don't think there is a better guitar. The intonation is really good - NOT as good as say the PRS but this is a working guitar that is tough and can handle playing live night after night. Oh yeah, it's heavy! But that's part of what gives it it's great sound. I've changed the pickups to EMG 85/81's because I'm going for a particular sound. I'm lucky and I own lots of guitars but if I had to pick one for the tropical island...
Hand down this is my baby.
