Will Landrum's Powerful Modal Theory, July 25, 2007
Reviewer: Fred from Winchester,VA (USA)
If there is a such thing as a college course for guitar playing student's,This Is IT!!!!!
I have modal theory, riffs, lick's and chops, and sweep picking and arpegio's and from this I've gained a wealth of knowledge.
The over the shoulder views are great because you can see clearly where he is on the fret board, and they are in a continuous repeat loop so that way you can try to keep up!
Metronomes are included and there are lessons on chord construction, modes, and solo's.
Most importantly the notes are written on a virtual guitar neck and this very helpful when you need to know where the chords and scale shapes for soloing and sweep picking are.
So with the video, brief description of the lessons, and with the vr.fretboard how can you go Wrong?
Knowledge Is Power!! Rock On!!

Will Landrum Guitar Instruction Courses, May 29, 2007
Reviewer: Jagade from San Jose, Ca
I bought all three of Will's guitar video instruction courses.
Sweep Picking and Arpeggio's
Powerful Modal Theory and Soloing
and... Essential Rock Guitar Techniques
The first two courses are not for the beginner (or the faint of heart for that matter). These two courses really require a student to already possess a reasonable understanding of guitar music theory (although Will explains his subject matter quite well). You don't HAVE to know theory but it sure helps if you do.
Everyone can benefit from Essential Rock Guitar Techniques as it covers all the "articulation" techniques (such as bends, slides, hammer on's, pull off's, trills, pick scrapes, tapping, etc.) that a guitarist needs to learn in order to really sound good.
I like Will's approach to teaching. He absolutely knows his stuff and it becomes evident when you see him play the examples.
He uses over the shoulder camera angles so your view of his guitar on screen looks like your guitar would while you are playing it. Much better than looking across at your instructor and then mentally having to mirror image what you are seeing.
The only thing I "dislike" about his courses is that he's so darn good! I wish I could just do a Spock "mind-meld" with Will and instantly have his knowledge and skills as a guitar player!
Other than that... LOL... I would highly recommend buying Will's courses. You will become a MUCH better player if you study and practice what he teaches.

I'm just getting into these courses. I like to think of myself as student of the guitar and guitar theory, and so far these courses have really given me some meat to sink my teeth into. I'm really looking forward to finishing them up.
