The Martin Company prides itself on the caliber of their woods, inlays, trims and finishes. You don’t need to be an experienced player to sense the unmistakable touch and feel of a Martin Guitar... or to appreciate its responsiveness. In the early 1980s, to satisfy the needs of players, many of whom developed strong interest in acoustic guitars after starting with electrics, Martin began to slim the necks and modify the action to ease playability without sacrificing Martin’s unique responsiveness and clean sound.

Martin oem 16 we, November 06, 2009
Reviewer: William Emmons from Johnstown, NY USA
I love this guitar. I bought it on ebay several years ago for about 1/2 the price it was worth and have never regretted it. The sound is rich and full. High notes are clear and crisp while the lower notes are rich and full. Plays like a dream and the fingering is smooth as silk. My first love was a 1942 D Martin that a relative gave me 30 years ago but this oem is right up there with the best of them. If you get one you'll never go back to any other. For a moderately priced guitar you can't beat it!!!!

Outstanding guitar. My D-28 has nothing on this 16 Series guitar. Great value. Perfect fit and finish. Beautiful tone and playability second to none.

Martin HD-16R LSH, April 06, 2009

I bought a 2008 Martin hd-16r lsh and absolutely love it.
It has a solid sitka spruce top and solid indian rosewood back and sides. The neck is mahogany with a striped ebony fingerboard and bridge. this guitar is great. its loud, bright, bassy, everything you could want in a guitar. the best thing is that it is a martin. i did have to have the action raised a little because it buzzed a little with a capo on. most people would not have to have the action raised. I play very hard so that is probably why it buzzed. that is my only complaint.
I think it can compeat with anything but "The Bone". If you are looking for a good bluegrass guitar, this is great, and its not bad for any other kind of music either. I highly recomend it.

Hello!
I bought this guitar the LOVELY Martin 16 Series: DC-16E Premium, probably 5 or 6 years ago and still play it everyday.
When, I went to a studio to record my first song AFRICA'S MY HOME, the sound tech said, just when I was tuning, wow! That's a great guitar, and what a sound! Imagine, I was just tuning...
You can hear the song at: www.productionstabouret.com see Album menu. I am telling you this a great instrument! So don't hesitate if you are planing to buy this model well GO FOR IT!!
The high notes sound wonderful as well as the low notes.
I have been in different Music Stores and played with many other models, even guitars that are $5000 and more didn't have any difference in the depth for the sound.
So, if you are a guitarist on the road, studio recording, playing in your own leaving room, well you will have an amazing instrument for a good price.
Cheers and enjoy being part of this great Martin family.

Hi I have a Martin OMC16RE Premium and I love it deep rich low notes and crisp highs. Absolutely one of the best electric acoustic guitars I have ever played. Easy to hold standing and sitting. The electronics are easy to use and it has an onboard tuner that is very accurate. This is my first Martin I have owned Gibsons and Alvarez and others but I will be a Martin owner for ever this guitar is everything I have ever wanted or needed in an acoustic electric guitar and would recommend it to any one with no hesitation.

Martin DC16RGTE Premium, January 13, 2009
Reviewer: Elmo the Magnificent from Dallas, TX
I acquired a used Martin DC16RGTE Premium a couple of months ago and have played it extensively since. This model has solid rosewood back & sides, solid spruce top, with Fishman Prefix pickup. This specimen is old enough that there's no onboard tuner.
The sound is rich and woody, the action is low and fast over a slim neck. At first I thought I was getting fret buzz, but it turned out the battery box was rattling. I padded it with some duct tape and the problem went away.
I've been playing a Takamine EF361SC for almost twenty years, and the Martin has a stronger, bassier voice, but perhaps a little less clarity of tone. I plan to keep both guitars, but when I'm ready to trade up I'm likely to trade the Martin for another Martin.
The Martin has a great sound for open-chord strumming, and I like it a lot, and it's easy to see why it's so popular with flat-pickers. For finger-picking, I think I still prefer the Takamine.
I think it's a fine guitar and worth the money, but you should play-test it as much as you can to be sure it's right for what you play, I don't think it's the universal answer.

Martin OMC-16RE Premium, August 12, 2008
Reviewer: Jaybird from Hagerstown, MD
My OMC-16RE Premium is a 2004 natural finish model that is no longer avaialble. Martin's OMC-16RE Aura is a comparable and nearly identical model - an acoutic-electric cut-a-way guitar with up-graded electronics that can't be beat. It has a slightly wider 1 3/4" nut, ebony fingerboard and bridge, smooth low-profile neck, Fishman pickup/microphone and on-board tuner. It has a sitka spruce top, rosewood back and sides, Martin's handmade quality and an exquisite fit and finish. Unplugged it sounds pure and sweet and when plugged in it sounds amazing. The OMC's smaller body size makes it a delight to hold and easier to play. An orchestra model (OM) has a slightly more narrow waist than a dreadnaught and is about 1" less deep. It's a smaller guitar that is a pleasure to play and hear. I would recommend to others!

Martin DC-16E Premium, April 25, 2008
Reviewer: Bobby James from OHIO
This guitar has got that classic full rich Martin sound. Sounds real close to a Martin D-18, just a pure honest acoustic no frills sound. The Fishman eclipse stereo blender and cutaway is just added versatility. This is the only acoustic that I will ever need. I've owned and sold more acoustic guitars than I care to admit and at one time thought that I would only own rosewood acoustics till I tried this one. Best acoustic cutaway deal on the market but they aren't real common and I've seen where Martin discontinued this model. If your lucky enough to come across give it a try. This guitar inspires me to play and the smell of the wood in a Martin guitar is intoxicating and addictive. I find myself just opening up the case to smell this thing. I've owned this one for about 5 years now and it has only gotten better with age. If something happened to this one I would have to replace it with the same thing!
